TARGET GROUP:

The target group for the Logan Square Youth Mural Project is youth from the Logan Square community between the ages of eight and up, due to health concerns concerning spray paint.

OBJECTIVE:

Objective 1: The Logan Square Mural Project to be run by youth.

Outcomes:

• The Logan Square Youth Mural Project will lead youth in Logan Square in discussion around issues and events happening in the community through a town hall meeting, which will be used as ideas for the murals.
• The Logan Square Youth Mural Project will be headed by youth that have shown progress and an understanding of the project.

Objective 2: Gaining the basic skills and knowledge needed to create a mural.

Outcomes:

• Youth will receive training on mural painting and graffiti art
  1. Shading (paints and spray paints)
  2. Safety 101
  3. Drawing
  4. The history of the Logan Square community
  5. Exercises in team building and networking
• Youth will draw and paint the mural
• The youth and community will come up with the ideas for the mural every rotation
• Guest artist workshops

Objective 3: Youth gain basic camera and media skills while broadcasting their accomplishments.

Outcomes:

• Youth will receive training on video camera use (for those who choose to do so)
• Youth will receive training on media production and presentation

Objective 4: Influence collaboration between different groups of youth in Logan Square.

Outcomes:

• All youth in Logan Square having the opportunity to be apart of all activities of the Logan Square Youth Project. 
• Youth from different parts of Logan Square being teamed up with one another.
  1. Youth working on editing the video they shot that week.
  2. Deciding on the paints or mixing the colors
  3. Discussing the next great idea for the mural.
